Draft Report Cards 2017

And here we are.

It's been too long guys, by now we have our teams.  That means it's time for me, your commish and also your competition, to give you some made up completely subjective but also 100% correct draft grades.

Word of warning:  All of my posts are being created on an iPad.  This is new for me and I miss my laptop.  Without further ado:

EAST

Matthew Burke:

Round 1:  Le'Veon Bell
Round 2: TY Hilton
Round 3: Lamar Miller
Round 4: Greg Olsen
Round 5: Ty Montgomery
Round 6: Brandon Marshall
Round 7: DeSean Jackson
Round 8: Jordan Matthews
Round 9: Seahawks D/ST
Round 10: Marvin Jones Jr.
Round 11:Philip Rivers
Round 12: Chris Thompson
Round 13: Justin Tucker
Round 14: Mohamed Sanu
Round 15: Eli Manning
Round 16: Breshad Permian
Round 17: CJ Fiedorowicz

QB:  Rivers hasn't really done you wrong, and for a late round pick he's one of the best.  Manning is bench fodder, but was drafted appropriately.  Not spectacular but not terrible.  Solid C+.

RB:  Le'Veon is going to make this group look good no matter what.  After that lets see.  I hate Lamar Miller, he just doesn't seem useful, he may not get injured but he probably also won't put up more than 15 points in a game. Ty Montgomery is a wonderful talent, but as I had him last year, you have to hope the Packers actually use him, and that's a big guess. Other than that there's Chris Thompson, which can be good in PPR but is rather unremarkable as well.  I think after Le'Veon I'm not terribly impressed.  B+ because of Bell.

WR: TY, DJax and BMarsh are here to hold it down for you.  I have questions about all of them though.  Is TY any good without Luck if he misses time? Is DJax steady enough to be a consistent starter on a new team, or will the boom and bust break you?  BMarsh is old.  Will we see a case of Rice to the Raiders or Andre Johnsons to the Colts?  After this guys you've got Jordan Matthews and Marvin Jones.  I like the Marvin Jones pick a lot, thought that was a wonderful value for him, I don't know how he'll perform but I think he's got a lot of potential.  Jordan Matthews could be good, but I doubt it, very worth a flier though.  No comment on Permian or Sanu, what's the point?  B- Good upside but some pretty big risks.

TE: Greg Olsen.  I won't hate on Gregory, he's solid and I know you really like this pick.  Safe and a good rock.  The Fedora could a good back up as well.  A-

I don't really care about Kickers and D/ST but I would be amiss to forget you reached on the Seahawks D in Round 9. B-

Overall: C+

Andrew Gomez:

Round 1: Jordy Nelson
Round 2: Doug Baldwin
Round 3: Dalvin Cook
Round 4: Larry Fitzgerald
Round 5: Stefon Diggs
Round 6: CJ Anderson
Round 7: Duke Johnson Jr
Round 8: Tyler Eifert
Round 9: Rishard Matthews
Round 10: Giovani Bernard
Round 11: Torrey Smith
Round 12: Andy Dalton
Round 13: Wendell Smallwood
Round 14: Julius Thomas
Round 15: Damien Williams
Round 16: Steelers D/ST
Round 17: Chris Boswell

QB:  I just don't know if I could ever trust Andy as my QB.  He's not bad but he's not good.  At least you didn't take him in the 6th or something. C-

RB: The rookie RBs are interesting, they could be amazing.  I just also don't know if I could trust one as my RB1, but you do have CJ Anderson as well and he can be pretty great.  After that some fliers on minivan and Smallwood could pay off.  I find this group without a single solid player to make me feel good, if this was my team I would feel very worried about this RB corp. C

WR:  The true bread and butter of your squad.  Nelson, Baldwin, Fitzgerald and Diggs is a great group of starters and flex players.  I don't know how many of them will truly "bust out" but they all seem to provide solid floors with respectable upside. Rishard Matthews isn't a sexy pick but the dude works hard and gets his, Torrey on the other hand doesn't excite me, and there may be potential but we've been waiting years for it.  A-

TE: Eifert and Tuna Julius.  That's a pair two years ago that would excite the league. Now Eifert can't stay healthy and already has tendinitis, and Julius Thomas can't even stay on the same team in Florida.  Potential is there but the floor is so so so low. C

All good on K and D.

Overall C

Nicholas Meyer
Round 1: Antonio Brown
Round 2: Rob Gronkowski
Round 3: Marshawn Lynch
Round 4: Kelvin Benjamin
Round 5: Doug Martin
Round 6: Ameer Abdullah
Round 7: Devante Parker
Round 8: Darren McFadden
Round 9: Jizz Rod
Round 10: Andrew Luck
Round 11: Ben Roethlisberger
Round 12: Cole Beasley
Round 13: Jamaal Charles
Round 14: Cooper Kupp
Round 15: Dion Lewis
Round 16: Seabass
Round 17: Ravens D/ST

BIAS ALERT

QB: I think Luck was a steal on round 10.  Having to use my 11 pick to grab Big Ben feels like a good move to grab a guy who potentially could finish in the top 3 QBs.  He's supposedly on track to make the first game, but if he doesn't it shouldn't be more than 2 games out. A

RB: Marshawn Lynch, my home pick and I believe a player with a huge TD upside.  Hell if Latavious could get 12 last year imagine what Beast Mode could do.  Doug Martin has looked wonderful this preseason, but he's suspended for a few games so I picked up Jizz Rod for his absence.  With the addition of DeSean I expect good things from the TB running backs.  Ameer Abdullah is a potential pick, he could do great and if he does I want him on my team.  McFadden is a pick to help make things a bit easier in the beginning of the season. Also, Dion Lewis and Charles are just good value if either shows a shadow of their past. A

WR: A decidedly thin corp here, its bolstered by the best of the best though in Antonio Brown.  Other than that there is hope.  Hope that Benji or Parker can outperform their ADPs and become consistently good.  Hope that Cooper will provide a huge relief for Goff and hope that Cole Beasley just keeps doing what he does. B+

TE:  GRONK. GRONK GRONK GRONK GRONK. A+

Overall A

Valeriy Shishkin
Round 1: Demarco Murray
Round 2: Jay Ajayi
Round 3: Alshon Jeffery
Round 4: Aaron Rodgers
Round 5: Emmanuel Sanders
Round 6: Jamison Crowder
Round 7: Pierre Garçon
Round 8: Zach Ertz
Round 9: Eddie Lacy
Round 10: Cameron Meredith 😭
Round 11: Chiefs D/ST
Round 12: Sterling Shepard
Round 13: Adam Vinatieri
Round 14: Robert Woods
Round 15: Matt Prater
Round 16: Kenny Stills
Round 17: Jalen Richard

QB:  Aaron Rodgers.  If he's healthy he's great. A+

RB: Started out real strong with Murray and Ajayi.  After that well.....  there's not much man.  If either of them gets injured your left with Fat Eddie and Jalen Richard.  You better be praying boy. C+

WR: A solid group. Maybe no solid sure-thing studs but there are pieces there that could be.  Alshon if he stays healthy is in a good spot, Sanders if Siemian improves would be rad, Garcon once had the most receptions in the league. Crowder, and Shepard are good backups, and Woods could do okay.  I don't really want to talk about Meredith though. B

TE: Zach Ertz.  Every year he's hyped, but maybe this is the year he can pull together multiple start worthy games. C

K and D/ST:  Why do you have two kickers? Why?  F

Overall D+. Meredith and two Kickers is what this comes to man.

WEST

Alex Gomez

Round 1: David Johnson
Round 2: Demaryius Thomas
Round 3: Isaiah Crowell
Round 4: Davante Adams
Round 5: Mark Ingram
Round 6: Jeremy Maclin
Round 7: Willie Snead
Round 8: Eric Decker
Round 9: Tyrell Williams
Round 10: Matthew Stafford
Round 11: Derrick Henry
Round 12: Eric Ebron
Round 13: Samaje Perine
Round 14: Kenny Golladay
Round 15: Rex Burkhead
Round 16: Will Lutz
Round 17: Bills D/ST

QB: Stafford ain't a bad guy to have on your team.  He does pretty well, but sometimes he will mess your week up.  That's round 10 though. B-

RB: Well David Johnson, Isaiah Crowell and Ingram sure seem solid.  Ingram does have AD chomping at his bit but he's solid however so it might be just fine. Henry, Perine and Burkhead don't provide much right away but we've seen how they can work in the past. A-

WR: I'm not a fan of Adams, and Demaryius is good but Siemian will theoretically hold him back a bit.  Maclin has the skills, but do the Ravens have Flacco?  Snead Decker and Tyrell however are a wonderful bench trio.  Pretty good depth. B+

TE: Eric Ebron probably won't stay healthy.  He probably also won't prove too much.  C-

Overall B

Orest Yaslinskiy
Round 1: Mike Evans
Round 2: Todd Gurley
Round 3: Christian McCaffrey
Round 4: Golden Tate
Round 5: Allen Robinson
Round 6: Robert Kelley
Round 7: Russell Wilson
Round 8: Donte Moncrief
Round 9: Jonathan Stewart
Round 10: Randall Cobb
Round 11: Zay Jones
Round 12: Jack Doyle
Round 13: Jamaal Williams
Round 14: Marqise Lee
Round 15: John Ross
Round 16: Panthers D/ST
Round 17: Blair Walsh

QB: Russell Wilson is a bit of a wild card.  He could be absolutely amazing or he could be slightly below average I dunno. B

RB: Gurley, the Panthers RBs, Rob Kelley and Jamaal.  I don't hate this, it's very opposite of what I wanted to do this year but I don't hate it.  I'd worry about Kelley keeping his job though.  B

WR: Mike Evans of course looks great, Golden Tate will probably provide unexciting regularity, Allen Robinson doesn't have a QB, but your bench has potential as well.  You're deepest spot with some potential lottery tickets, I like what I see.  B+

TE: Jack Doyle is an ugly pick to have as your only TE, I have 0 faith in him. F

Overall B-

Gary Meyer
Round 1: Odell Beckham Jr
Round 2: Jordan Howard
Round 3: Terrelle Pryor Sr.
Round 4: Drew Brees
Round 5: Sammy Watkins
Round 6: Mike Gillislee
Round 7: Paul Perkins
Round 8: Mike Wallace
Round 9: Thomas Rawls
Round 10: Hunter Henry
Round 11: Ted Ginn Jr
Round 12: Texans D/ST
Round 13: Stephen Gostkowski
Round 14: Austin Hooper
Round 15: Carson Palmer
Round 16: Antonio Gates
Round 17: Devin Funchess

QB:  Drew Brees appears to be a perennially solid pick.  I think you could have waited one more round, but maybe not.  Either way you should be covered. A

RB: If either Gilislee or Perkins works for you you're in good shape.  On the other hand, you don't have a ton of depth, Thomas Rawls and Paul Perkins are both interesting but boy interesting might not cut it.  C

WR: Solid picks, you took what was given and honestly it looks like you were given a lot.  Odell is solid, I personally love Pryor, and Wallace and Watkins could have solid years.  Tedd Ginn and Funchess as the only bench worries me especially considering the lack of RB depth as well though. B+

TE:I'm not here to say you have bad TEs.  Instead I ask, why did you draft 3?  Hunter Henry and Hooper look good, Gates is old but he is Gates. The investment on the group is just hard to justify. B-

Overall B-

Jared Grube
Round 1: Julio Jones
Round 2: Amari Cooper
Round 3: Ezekiel Elliott
Round 4: Kareem Hunt
Round 5: Tyreek Hill
Round 6: Theo Riddick
Round 7: Delanie Walker
Round 8: Marcus Mariota
Round 9: Corey Coleman
Round 10: LeGarrette Blount
Round 11: Carson Wentz
Round 12: Patriots D/ST
Round 13: Latavius Murray
Round 14: Coby Fleener
Round 15: DeAndre Washington
Round 16: Taylor Gabriel
Round 17: Caleb Sturgis
QB: Mariota is a good pick, I like it especially living next to UofO now.  However, I really don't like taking Carson 3 picks later in round 11.  Seems like a waste to me. C

RB: Surviving while Elliott is out might be hard for you.  K.Hunt could be a strong pick, but we won't know for sure until he takes the first team snaps.  He's not the only rook in that situation though.  Riddick appears to be good PPR value.  Blount I'm iffy on, but maybe.  Zeke looks good but only with depth, without it and your RB corp worries me greatly. C

WR: There isn't a lot of depth here either, but what you do have is dope.  Jones, Cooper, Coleman and Hill all could have huge value.  The first three however have been injured a bit recently.  A-

TE: Delanie is solid, could have his usage go down with the new faces in TEN.  Fleener is hit or miss but I suppose if you wanted a backup that's an alright one. B+

Overall B-

NORTH

Chris Cone
Round 1: Tom Brady
Round 2: Leonard Fournette
Round 3: Michael Crabtree
Round 4: Jordan Reed
Round 5: Danny Woodhead
Round 6: Derek Carr
Round 7: Frank Gore
Round 8: Kenny Britt
Round 9: Dan Bailey
Round 10: Adam Thielen
Round 11: Broncos D/ST
Round 12: CJ Prosise
Round 13: Josh Doctson
Round 14: Spencer Ware
Round 15: Tyrod Taylor
Round 16: Jaguars D/ST
Round 17: Bengals D/ST

QB: Well, you certainly got what you wanted.  Brady in the first shook some shit up.  Carr in the 6th did again, and also Tyrod.  I would give you a slightly higher grade here but I don't believe you gained much value with these guys where you took them. B-

RB: Dude sucks about drafting Ware.   Your RBs don't look bad otherwise.  If Woodhead stays healthy he can have a strong year, Fournette is a question but possibly in a good way. Gore keeps on going.  Prosise is a huge question.  I would have liked to see additional depth though maybe in the 6th, or an RB I'm the first.  You do you though. C- (for drafting Ware).

WR: Crabtree, Britt, Thielen, Doctson.  You need more depth.  Crabtree is good but the rest don't particularly scream starter to me, and you need to start at least 2.  Trust me, drop a D for another WR.
C-

TE: Jordan Reed is rad.  If he stays healthy you're totally good.  He doesn't stay healthy though so get a back up. B+

Round 1: Devonta Freeman
Round 2: Melvin Gordon
Round 3: DeAndre Hopkins
Round 4: Keenan Allen
Round 5: Joe Mixon
Round 6: Martavis Bryant
Round 7: Tevin Coleman
Round 8: Cam Newton
Round 9: Martellus Bennett
Round 10: Chris Hogan
Round 11: Cardinals D/ST
Round 12: Jeremy Hill
Round 13: Branden Oliver
Round 14: Jason Witten
Round 15: Mason Crosby
Round 16: D'Onta Foreman
Round 17: Allen Hurns

QB: Killa Cam.  Will he play like his MVP season or more like last year?  B

RB: Your first two picks ensured you had a good RB corp. After that I don't personally trust the Bengals three-headed monster behind a bad o-line.  But you also got Coleman to lock down Atlantas backfield.  Very solid crew. A

WR: Your WRs are a risky group, huge upside but scary as hell. Hopkins is playing with another subpar QB, Keenan might literally die at some point, Bryant has to not smoke weed, Hogan actually needs to compete with Cooks and GRONK this year.  If they all happen it's great if they don't you'll be hunting. B

TE:Bennett could be rad, or like Cook last year just okay.  Witten is solid, not spectacular. B

Overall B+\A-

Jake Yorke
Round 1: LeSean McCoy
Round 2: Brandin Cooks
Round 3: Dez Bryant
Round 4: Travis Kelce
Round 5: Bilal Powell
Round 6: Jimmy Graham
Round 7: Terrance West
Round 8: Kirk Cousins
Round 9: Jameis Winston
Round 10: John Brown
Round 11: James White
Round 12: Kevin White
Round 13: Shane Vereen
Round 14: Charles Sims
Round 15: Tyler Lockett
Round 16: Giants D/ST
Round 17: Cairo Santos

QB: I won't question that you have good QBs, I think you do, I just wonder more about the cost of them.  They'll probably do you well though. B

RB: McCoy is as solid a pick as possible, Terrence West is something you went through last year too wasn't it?  Bilal could have huge value, but on the Jets I don't imagine many TDs.  Not ,y favorite group of RBs but solid I'm PPR, won't save you but they won't drown you either. B

WR: Brandin Cooks and Dez Bryant could be huge for you.  If John Brown plays well you have something going, if he doesn't than I imagine a search for another player.  Kevin White is interesting because the press is bad, but what else do the Bears have?  B+

TE: I have to imagine you did what you did to fuck with everyone else.  You probably could have grabbed a higher upside WR but Kelce and Graham aren't shabby at all. A+

Overall B

Daniel Smith
Round 1: AJ Green
Round 2: Michael Thomas
Round 3: Carlos Hyde
Round 4: Matt Ryan
Round 5: Jarvis Landry
Round 6: Adrian Peterson
Round 7: Kyle Rudolph
Round 8: MattForte
Round 9: Darren Sproles
Round 10: Corey Davis
Round 11: Dak Prescott
Round 12: Vikings D/ST
Round 13: Matt Bryant
Round 14: Danny Amendola
Round 15: Alvin Kamara
Round 16: Dustin Hopkins
Round 17: Cameron Brate

QB: Matt Ryan is great.  If he can stave off the super bowl hangover in the largest choke job in history, he's a great pick.  I do wonder if Prescott was worth it for you there though. A-

RB: Youre really banking on Ingram losing his job eh?  Hyde is good, but 49ers offense worries me a tad to have him as a RB1.  After that it looks like it's just old RBs that have kinda gotten downgraded, AD behind Ingram, Forte behind Powell, Sproles behind Blount/Smallwood.  I don't love it honestly D-Smith. C

WR:  Here is where your core is.  AJ and Michael Thomas sounds like a good 1-2, while Landry has been solid but with Jay Cutler there is now a little more confusing. Corey Davis is intriguing and Amendola is as likely to reach the slot as Hogan imo.  A

TE:  Rudolph doesn't excite me, but Brate was a nice final pick. C+

K:  you took two. F
Overall grade C+
