Week 3 Recap

Hey guys, hope you all enjoyed the super high scores from almost every single team.  That was a lot of fun to watch.  I really enjoyed getting stomped on and watching absolutely nothing at all happen.  That was cool.  3 TD days for a lot of guys, some great weeks happened, but all I can do for my team right now is summed up in this next gif.

And finally, for those of you that had hope in the Dolphins this year I have:

Anyway, the Raiders are ahead of the 49ers on ESPN's powerrankings at #20 (the 49ers are #28).  This is my consolation for the week.

POWER RANKINGS
 STATISTICS AND OTHER SUCH

To start it off, we have one undefeated team (D. Smith 3-0) and one winless team (Andrew Gomez 0-3).  So we have two opportunities to see complete domination/dominated.

The East Division has the most points for with 1,552
The North Division has the least points for with 1,512

The East Division has the most points against with 1,623
The North division has the least points against with 1,435

East Division total record: 4W/8L
West Division total record: 6W/6L
North Division total record: 8W/4L

Val has the highest PF with 493, Second is Alex with 464
Gary and Andrew are both tied with the least PF at 316

Alex has the highest PA with 428, Second is Val with 425
Yuriy has the lowest PA with 316, Second is D. Smith with 340.

Plenty of time for change in these still, there's a full 10 weeks of the regular season left before playoffs begin.

MATCH-UP OF THE WEEK:

Keenan and Bell (Jake Yorke)

VS.

BAG OF SUCK (Yaro Yaslinskiy)

In a high scoring game between two new division rivals, it was surprisingly the bench that mattered the most.  In this game Jake got back his first round pick Le'veon Bell after his two week suspension and it paid off, he dropped just under 30 points.  But it wasn't even Bell that won the game for him, it was good ole' Steve "only WR in Bal." Smith Sr.  that won the game with a huge 43 points.  Now the best part of this game though is that Jake won by making all the right decisions, leaving only 2 points on his bench by playing Forsett instead of Miller.  Yaro on the other hand left 34 points on his bench, playing Starks (with Lacy in) instead of Blount and Nate Washington over Marvin "the martian" Jones.  So Yaro, for you I say, your own worst enemy is yourself.

As a congratulations for you Jake, I give to you the many emotions of Steve Smith Sr.

Week 2 Recap

Week 2 is in the books.  Funny how fast the season goes and how long the wait seems.  We got our weekly quota of injuries, points, and Yuriy's soul-crushing defeat.  Things however are interesting right now in our league, we have 3 teams that may go undefeated (Alex, D Smith, and Bag of Suck Yaro), and 3 teams that can't find a win (Yuriy, Andrew and Matt).  At this point, West division is the only division in which every team has got a win, and the East division is the only division without an undefeated team.

Speaking about divisions I feel like crunching some numbers.  So bear with me for a moment.

EAST
Total points scored: 994
Total Points Against: 1,055
Total W/L:  2/6

NORTH
Total Points Scored: 938
Total Points Against: 917
Total W/L: 5/3

WEST
Total Points Scored: 1,026
Total Points Against: 986
Total W/L: 5/3

Early Points For Leader: Greenbowl Packers (Val) 296 PF
Early Points Against Leader: Kendall Fire (Matt) 283 PA

What does all this mean exactly?  Does PF matter as much as PA?  It's hard to say exactly, but the division with the lowest PF also has the lowest PA and winning records, while the team with the highest scorer (1-1) also has the highest PA and losing records.  It's hard to determine this early, and after only two weeks things can change.  But just a tasty morsel to hopefully get you guys talking.

POWER RANKINGS

HEARTBREAK OF THE WEEK

Spagett!! 916 (Yuriy) versus Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood (D. Smith)

This was the play that caused the loss, late on a Monday night.  Yuriy's long line of having absolutely 0 luck continues to play out in a fantastic display of crazy.  To think, if Gore had even just fallen straight to the turf Yuriy could have at least tied...  Also, sorry about Decker and Romo :(.

Greenbowl Packers (Val) versus Gronkin' Up Somethin Good (Nic)
Same game, similar idea.  Late in the game, Colts completely shut-out by the Jets.  I needed a miracle to save me, down 21 points with Moncrief left against Val's Dwayne Allen, and of course Allen hurts his ankle and Moncrief is the only player to score significant points for the Colts.  YES!

RIVALRY OF THE WEEK

Unprotected Soup Kitchen (Alex Gomez)
VS
Always Runny In Philidelphia (Ory Yaslinskiy)

A fairly new rivalry here, but definitely a heated one.  Alex takes on a Yaslinskiy, and extends his undefeated streak.  I believe that makes it 4-0.  This game was an interesting one, first I'll have to mention that Ory's score of 94 includes a whopping -8 from SF D/St, an 11 point swing for just the average 3 that Titans D/ST put up.  Jeremy Hill also had a complete stinker at 0 points for Ory.  Alex's team did pretty damn well, Julio put up, Palmer ate his hot dogs and even Green had a weird TD catch. If Ory had put in Dion Lewis instead of Hill (shouldn't have), played no D/ST and put in Ebron (c'mon he's almost Lebron) he actually would have had 136 points... still not enough to win.  Sorry Ory, but better luck next time.

Alex, just keep on hoping that Carson Palmer keeps feasting.
Good luck week 3.

Week 1 Write-up

WEEK 1

All over, in the books.  That w/l column now officially says something and now you can enjoy having your hopes met or dashed.

First, may we remember last year and always know that week 1 does not always show what is going to happen for the rest of the season.  There's a lot of football left to play, and those that look good now may not stay that way and those that look bad may become stars.  Also, there will be a couple of great players that come from nowhere.  There always is.

This week was the week of the tight end absolutely, in the few games I watched TE's put up a ridiculous amount of points and had a disproportionate amount of TDs by far.  Can it stay that way?  Most would doubt it, but who knows?  Maybe Gronk taught the rest of the teams something about having a giant to catch passes.  According to Trey Wingo "NFL tight ends combined to score 22 receiving touchdowns in Week 1, the most touchdowns in a week by tight ends in the last 15 seasons."  So I hope you guys enjoyed it.

Also I figured for you 49ers fans, I'd drop my favorite picture of your coach:

POWER RANKINGS POST WEEK 1

RIVALRY OF THE WEEK:

Greenbowl Packers (V. Shishkin) versus Aztec Godzilla 2.0 (Andrew Gomez).

(One of the first pictures when you google Valeriy Shishkin)

vs.

Andrew dancing before finding out about his week 1.

This is a battle of the ages, one that has been known to man since man first begun to For Reals.  One that is never easy and is usually very important always.  And in this game, Valeriy came out on top.  He had help from his players as only his kicker and Odell Beckham JR scored under 10 points.  You wouldn't believe it by looking but, at one point Andrew's team did have the edge.  On Thursday Roethlisberger dropped 20 points and Heath Miller got 16 a solid showing for the first night.  Early Sunday Lacy had 17, a nice cushion.  But it all came crashing down when Monday came through.  First it was Matt Ryan throwing down (the field) for Val, then came the crushing blows of Carlos Hyde breaking up what once people had doubted.  The victory was sealed, and Val scored the most points of anyone in the league week 1.

So Val, enjoy this win.  Deandre this week has made his choice, he's getting bread.

Good luck week 2 guys.

Beginning of 2015 Season!!!

Hey guys.
Hey.
Hey.
Guess what.

FOOTBALL.

So the 2015 season is set to begin this Thursday with a matchup that's sure to excite, Steelers @ Patriots. Two high scoring teams set to battle it out in a fantastic style, featuring a plethora of talent (not named Leveon Bell).  But I know that in fantasy football those matchups come second so I'd like to take a moment and just give a beginning of the year post that's dedicated to mostly just matchups.

DRAFT RANKINGS (auto-generated by ESPN)
Conventional wisdom tells me that whatever is on this list is largely not likely to be true, but what do I know?   What I do know is that typically, players near the bottom don't end up quite as bad as it shows here (except for Yuriy that one year).  I also know that D Smith always puts up a good draft grade, so kudos.  There's too much speculation going on so I'll leave it be for now and just do a quick section on....

So, interesting to note that Andrew's team right now is projected the lowest week 1, and Jared's team is projected the highest.  Also interesting is I now know how many of you guys use ESPN chosen avatars.  That's cool, just doesn't work for the blog bit.  You live and learn right?

Anyway, which one of you guys wants to be the next trophy holder?  Can any of you manage?  Good luck and on Thursday it's all going live.
